I'm back from Texas - had a lot of fun, took a lot of pictures, still editing them and I'll probably put some on DPC tomorrow. My new flash arrived while we were gone, it's a Sunpak 555. Here's a photo with it, bounced off the ceiling. Shot through the glass of the lizard's tank.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Tamron 28-75mm 2.8
  • Aperture: 4.0
  • Shutter: 1/200
  • ISO: 100

One of the people fishing at the ocean in Port Aransas today.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Tamron 70-210mm 2.8
  • Aperture: 2.8
  • Shutter: 1/200th
  • ISO: 100

My cousin (left) and her friend. My cousin got diagnosed with brain cancer and is in chemotherapy, so she doesn't have her hair ATM, hence the scarf. Hopefully she'll be OK.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Tamron 28-75mm 2.8
  • Aperture: 2.8
  • Shutter: 1/1600
  • ISO: 400

Me jumping the same mound as in yesterday's picture. Taken by my friend, had it set up to fire the flash but he closed it. I'm probably going to miss a few days because I'll be in Texas for spring break, although I might be able to upload from there.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Canon 18-55mm
  • Aperture: 7.1
  • Shutter: 1/400
  • ISO: 100

My friend jumping a little dirt mound after sunset. Note the spirit orb in front of his left pedal and over his head, they are obviously carrying him through the air to drop him in the ditch several yards away. Also note the sarcasm in the previous sentence. The SD400's flash isn't very powerful and it came out underexposed, pushed the exposure and gave it a green tone like a night vision thing.

  • Camera: Canon SD400
  • Aperture: 2.8
  • Shutter: 1/60
  • ISO: 50

Another photo of my bike. Removed the brakes now, it was partly to show that.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Canon 50mm 1.8
  • Aperture: 1.8
  • Shutter: 1/400
  • ISO: 200

'Absolute Motion'. My attempt at a tribute to Skiprow's excellent 'Absolute Still' photo.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Tamron 28-75mm 2.8
  • Aperture: 8.0
  • Shutter: 641 sec.
  • ISO: 100

Some deer. My dad and I went for a drive, saw a hawk sitting on top of a rock and came back for my camera - the hawk left but I shot these deer instead.

  • Aperture: 2.8

A daffodil, apparently. Not taken today, but I wanted to use it.

  • Aperture: 4.0
  • Shutter: 1/400

One of the resident homeless cats here. Well, maybe I shouldn't say homeless, but they live in one of the yards in my neighborhood and some of the people living nearby give them food, but don't let them live in the house.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Tamron 70-210mm 2.8
  • Aperture: 2.8
  • Shutter: 1/400

Long exposures... two of them!
Most likely will be a challenge entry.

  • Camera: Canon SD400
  • Aperture: 2.8
  • Shutter: 2 sec
  • ISO: 50

This is my desk. With my little SD400 in the foreground.

  • Shutter: 1/30
  • ISO: 1600

My parents bought this used oldsmobile today. I'm not so crazy about the looks of it, but its just a car for us to use instead of our truck since it gets poor mileage. Took this shot a couple hours after dark, lit by moonlight and the light from the house. Bumped colors quite a bit from the file.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Canon 18-55mm
  • Aperture: 3.5
  • Shutter: 20 sec
  • ISO: 400

"Be that way!"
It was still snowy today, but I took a walk by the river to find some wildlife, and I saw a lot of geese. Here's one of the better shots.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Tamron 70-210mm 2.8
  • Aperture: 2.8
  • Shutter: 1/500

It snowed today. A lot. Finally it eased up so I went out and took a couple shots.

  • Lens: Tamron 70-210mm 2.8
  • Aperture: 2.8
  • Shutter: 1/640

An older photo again. This was taken at Lemon Reservoir, in Colorado. Same place I took my most-accomplished photo to date: http://dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=262719

  • Camera: Canon A70
  • Aperture: 3.2
  • Shutter: 1/1000
  • ISO: 64

My niece and my dad. This was taken last year also... I have so many photos I've never uploaded, but I like them, so I'll use some of them instead of taking more boring macros of stuff like I've been doing a lot when I didn't shoot that day. This one was taken with my G5 - I miss that camera, even though it had a poor movie mode and that's what I use my point and shoot for a lot. It was a great camera, with a way better lens than my SD400's. If this post shows up twice, it's because Blogger seemed to eat one of my attempts. I know I did this once already an hour ago.

  • Camera: Canon G5
  • Aperture: 4.0
  • Shutter: 1/80
  • ISO: 50

Reflections of a desk lamp, in one of my lenses.

  • ISO: 100

Our cat is a nut. These deer are really hungry, so they come and eat the seeds from our bird feeders every night. It was dark, had to resort to using the flash, hence the rather low picture quality.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Tamron 70-210mm 2.8
  • Aperture: 2.8
  • Shutter: 1/25 (flash used)
  • ISO: 1600

  • Shutter: 1/500

One of the homeless cats that lives in my neighborhood. I was trying a new method of metering, where you spot meter to the lightest part and use exposure comp +1-1/3. Makes the photo look pretty bad out of camera but if you darken it you can get more detail in the ground without making the subject too dark too. I should have tried that earlier.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Canon 18-55mm
  • Aperture: 3.5
  • Shutter: 1/200
  • ISO: 100

One of my Odyssey Jim Cielenki pedals. Focus is even harder to get right on this lens when the subject is close, and you're handholding... I think I leaned forward a little to focus it, then settled back so I wouldn't shake the camera, and brought the focal point with me.

  • Camera: Canon 350D
  • Lens: Tamron 70-210mm 2.8
  • Aperture: 2.8
  • Shutter: 1/250
  • ISO: 100

Sunset, TV equipped!
A snapshot, was out trying to get as many pics as possible before it got dark, and still have time to ride for a few minutes.

  • Aperture: 2.8
  • Shutter: 1/4000
