Long exposure, the moon behind the tree there. Kodachrome 64, 35mm f/2.5 for a couple hours.

Going to space the pictures out a little more now, I have quite a few that I just got back. This one was shot up on the mountain across the highway from me, you can't see the sun rise or set from my house. It's pretty representative of New Mexico... oilfield equipment, dirt, and pretty skies once in a while.

I just left my part time job at Officemax, and I'm going to try freelance photography, so if anyone reading this wants to hire me - yes, I'll probably shoot it, and I'll probably hook you up cheaper than someone else would :P

Some shots around the campus of my college, it's one of my favorite places to shoot. This was on efke 25 also, I like the look of this film.

I haven't been shooting a whole lot, and I've been too lazy to update this, but it's getting to be macro/green trees season and I should have more photos to post...

A shot from some efke KB25 film - I've only tried one roll, but I like 
the results very much. It's a film that's apparently made similarly to the films of 50-60 years ago, with high silver content, and of course it's ISO 25 so the grain is tiny and it's really sharp. I got it processed by a place called dr5 in Denver - they process regular B&W film to make positive slides, which project extremely well and scan well too.

Taken with my 1N and Asahi 135mm 3.5 Super Takumar, of my M3 with Voigtlander 35mm color-skopar.

These are some that I printed on photographic paper using a homemade 'enlarger' (very loosely used). It was a cardboard box filled with tinfoil with a hole on each end, a light bulb in one end and the other end open, two sheets of paper as diffusers in the middle, a plastic picture holder with a negative in it taped to the box, then a plate with a 55mm SLR lens in front of that, all inside a changing bag. I taped the paper to the wall in the dark and made the exposure, then developed it in some tinfoil casserole dishes. They aren't straight scans, the contrast was pretty crappy in the prints due to light leakage.

It was a pretty fun project, but I want a real enlarger now... The good thing about it was, all I had to buy was the trays, paper and print developer, which were about 30 bucks. The fixer, lens, and light bulb were only about another 30 actually, and I had the boxes, tinfoil, changing bag, and negative holder.

Well, I guess I failed the whole 2006 thing... congrats to everyone who made it. I'm going to keep doing it as a periodic update blog, and I might update the links section if I stop being lazy...

Here's a shot that was kind of an accident... It was half whited out because I can't load my Leica without wasting the first shot, or the film won't stay on the spool and I'll get very frustrated when I realize I was playing pretend photographer at the end of the 'roll'. The store's scanner apparently compensated for the white half by darkening the rest of the picture, and apparently there was enough DR in the film to make it look decent.


I admit it, I miss digital. I'm also having fun playing with B&W, and I don't regret buying the M3 since I do realize that rangefinders are perfectly suited for some of my stuff, and there's no way I'm selling it. Going to buy at least one camera this year, and I'm thinking about the Pentax K10D because I've been impressed with the M42 lenses I've been shooting, and the 31mm limited looks amazing.

Ugh, I'm way behind on updates. Here's three from film - the first two are on Arista 400 pushed to 1600, I shot them in Durango. The third is Fuji Astia cross-processed to C41. I won't be doing the PAD thing in 2007, so if you guys want to delete me from your lists I won't mind at all... I'll probably update it every once in a while with new stuff though.

Some pictures on B&W film. I really like B&W for some stuff, I'm going to have to start developing it myself eventually so I don't have to wait to get it processed.
I'm proud of the shot of the hippies or whatever in the parking lot, it was on Delta 100 at half a second wide open with my M3 and 35mm 2.5 - definitely couldn't have pulled that off with an SLR :)

...Although, to be honest, I could have gone to ISO 1600 and underexposed 2 stops on the XT and still gotten a usable 640px B&W, but think of the possibilities with fast film.

Full moon rising over the river, which is iced over near the shores where it doesn't move as fast.

A photo of a rusty old tank or pipe or something that sits next to the road. Warm, afternoon lighting and Velvia, so the colors are pretty saturated. I love the textures of rust, it's about the most interesting pattern you can see around here.

I don't have very much good stuff to post lately... Here's one of my dog, taken with an old Pentax 55mm screwmount lens, probably wide open or so. I like the look of it. We went to visit my grandparents in massachusetts for thanksgiving, and I took pictures there, but all on film, so it'll be a while before I post them.

Some shots with the M3 around campus. Used my Voigtlander 35mm 2.5 and Provia 100. This new version of Blogger is pretty cool.

The trees and house are scanned from Velvia 100, taken with my 1N and 70-210. The rock garden is with the M3 and 35mm 2.5 Voigtlander lens, Kodak 400UC.

I know I've been behind, especially on comments and looking at other people's pictures. 12 credit hours equals a decent amount of work, and I somehow manage to equate commenting and uploading to my PAD as work lately, so I usually don't feel like it.
These two are from my 1N. One of them is a double exposure using the fisheye lens, it turned out pretty cool I think. I got my Leica M3, but I won't have a lens for it until tomorrow and of course it's film so I won't be able to post the pictures from it for a couple days. We'll see if I can get by without a digital camera for long - this is the first time since August of 2001!
If I'm able to get a job, I'll probably save up for a 5D or 1Ds next summer.

3 photos taken in Kansas with the 1N and the 70-210. I was really close to the close focus limit on these I think, and it worked out pretty well. Shot on Kodak 400UC, which seems really nice, I'll be using a lot more of it.

Some photos from my trip to Kansas. The first one (or whichever order they are) is my dad. The cow, I'm pretty happy with and probably will enter it in free study. The other one is a butterfly eating the pollen on some of my aunt and uncle's flowers. They had a lot of them there. I'll post some scans from film when I get it developed, I shot almost as much film as digital (4 rolls)

I've been busy with plenty of class work lately, so here's three pictures at a time. One of them is at the reception for a photography show at the Civic Center for the photography club that I'm in, my cat picture is on the wall there. We had a lot of rain, and more importantly the area upstream from us got more, so the neighborhood got a LOT of water. Our front lawn was underwater for a while, and so was this oilfield site. The third shot is some fall colors on a dirt driveway - got some good old fashioned trespassing going on to make the shot. I'm going on a trip to Kansas soon, hopefully I'll get some good landscapes and maybe shots of the family. When I come back I'm selling my digital camera and most of my lenses, and possibly my film camera. Going to go to a Leica M6, and I haven't decided which lenses yet. Ideally, a 21mm f/4, a 50mm f/2 and a 75mm f/2.5, but $$$ and no money for a scanner and a PnS digital. Someone come buy my prints!
